SARAH BOUNTY
March 1st 1934 - November 14th 2024 Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
In Loving Memory 1 March 1934 – 14 November 2024
Peacefully surrounded by family, Sarah passed away at the age of 90 - a matriarch, a friend, and a light to so many.
She lived with quiet grace, fierce love, and unwavering faith. Her kindness, patience, and warmth touched everyone who knew her.
Her home was always open, the kettle never far from the boil, and her garden always blooming.
She leaves behind generations who carry her stories, her recipes, and her love - the threads that continue to weave through every life she touched.
Forever remembered. Deeply missed. Always loved.
A life well lived, a love well shared, and a legacy that lives on in every warm smile and every gentle memory.
MEMORY WALL
Shared Moments, Forever Remembered.
This space is a collection of memories, words, and stories from the people who knew and loved her best. Whether it was a quick laugh, a shared adventure, or a quiet moment that stuck - every post here helps paint the picture of a life well lived and deeply felt. It’s especially special to read about moments others might not have seen - glimpses of who she was through the eyes of friends, co-workers, classmates, and family. These shared memories mean the world, especially to those closest to her.
“Gran always smelled like roses and vanilla. I used to sit on her lap and play with her necklaces. I didn’t understand everything she said, but I always laughed with her.”
— Gus (aged 6)
“My dear Sarah wasn’t just a friend - she was family. For over 40 years, she’s been in my life as a mentor, listener, and constant encourager. She never forgot a birthday, always made room at the table, and had a way of making even strangers feel at home. Her wisdom, her wit, her warmth - I will carry it all with me, always.”
— Mary
“We shared so many laughs over dropped stitches and too many cups of tea. Margaret brought joy and calm wherever she went - our circle won’t be the same without her.”
— Lynette
“Some of my best memories are sitting at the kitchen table with Gran while she rolled out pastry and told me stories from “the old days.” She taught me how to make scones and how to speak up for myself. I hope I can be half the woman she was. I miss her laugh, her hand on mine, and the way she’d always say “love you, love you, love you” as we left.”
— Chelsea Rose
“She always waved from her garden gate, rain or shine. The kind of neighbour you never forget - generous, gentle, and always ready with a tin of biscuits.”
— Trish & Doug
“Sunday mornings won’t be the same without her in the second pew, singing off-key and smiling like the sun. Rest well, Sarah”
— Margaret
“It’s hard to sum up a whole lifetime of love in one post. Mum was our foundation - the quiet strength who never asked for thanks. She made birthdays magical, showed up to every school concert, and called just to check if we’d eaten. Even as adults, we still leaned on her - she just knew how to hold us together. I see pieces of her in all of us, and I know her love will keep guiding us through.”
— Lilly
“Gran had a way of making everything feel better. A cup of tea, a quiet nod, a warm hug - she didn’t need many words to make you feel loved. I miss her every day.”
— Sophia
